2. NEW HORIZONS COUNSELING SERVICES A critical element of services to all consumers, but especially children and youth, is the consumers' natural environment. For this specific population, effective treatment must include a sense of several key elements: the family system, the consumers' interaction with their environment, the supports and stressors in the environment, and the ability to interact with the people and elements in their surroundings. Therefore, services to children and adolescents may be offered beyond the clinic setting and in the places that are familiar to the consumer. Admissions Criteria: Under 18 years of age Parent or legal guardian gives consent to receive services Mental health symptoms interfere with consumer's ability to function. Services: Screening and assessment Diagnostic and assessment SA Clubhouse for Adolescents Case management Family, individual, and group counseling Psychiatric evaluation and treatment In-home support services Therapeutic foster care Parent support/education group School-based services Court services Access to Services: Persons who wish to make a first appointment for themselves or their child for mental health or substance abuse services may call 706-323-0174 or 1-800-241-3659. The Central Access staff member will conduct a brief interview to obtain basic information, and will make you an appointment at the most appropriate service location. Gives referrals to local agencies offering counseling and other services related to child abuse, adult survivor issues, and domestic violence. The three questions include: 1. Has marijuana or alcohol caused emotional, physical, financial or legal problems in your loved one's life? 2. Has your child exemplified a significant decrease in responsibilities? 3. Have you noticed a personality change in your child? An affirmative response to any of these three questions could indicate your son or daughter has a problem with marijuana or alcohol use.
